Ophelia's Eulogy

Ophelia was a very sweet and innocent girl, going through the tragedies that come to us in life. Someone very special and close to her died, her father. She was just trying to cope with life's dilemmas, which is why in fact Ophelia was not crazy or different or weird. I believe that her acting out was a way to get through her life, thefore as well as Ophelia no one takes tragedy lightly. Ophelia could have lashed out and her "condition" could have been worse.

The Universality of Hamlet

I do agree that there is something timeless about Hamlet's character and the play itself because once you get a glimpse of anything involving Hamlet weather it be the play, a movie, or a the book it's something that you will always remember experiencing it. As I am reading Hamlet now, I have realized that the things said and done captures me into thinking that situations in life never changed from the time Hamlet was written, until now. Thereore, my interepretaion is that life's ups and downs are similar no matter the era or who they are.

Hamlet's in quite a pickle ..

Hamlet has a descision to make, weather to kill Claudius right then or should he wait it out and give it some thought. The trick although is that while Hamlet is considering all off this, Claudius is praying and attempting to repent which is the reason why Hamlet is in such a "pickle". I think that Hamlet did the right thing not killing Claudius while he was repenting and praying because that would have made Hamlet just as wrong as Claudius for doing something without putting in any thought into it. Also, even though Hamlet does not condone Claudius being married to his mother he should still take her feelings into consideration because he would jeapordize him and his mother's relationship even more.

My 4 To Be Scenes

• The first "To be or not to be" speech was the oldest scene of Hamlet that we've seen. You can tell because of the black and white effect commonly used in the olden days. One thing I liked about this scene was the suspense of the music. Although, that seemed to only be the suspenseful part about the whole the scene, because Hamlet's voice and the way he said his speech was not heart- felt. 
• The setting of the second scene viewed was my favorite out of every scene. Hamlet was in an inclosed basement type of area where his father was buried. He also looked to the wall of dead people that surrounded him which made sense since what he was saying had a lot to do with him contemplating death. Along, with the setting Hamlet said his words and acted them out in the best way. 
• In the third scene Hamlet was facing a double- sideded mirror. As he is looking in the mirror he walks closer to it and interacts with it and taps his dagger to the mirror at the end. Therefore, this scene in my opinion was the most creative because I really like the idea behind it. 
• Finally, the last of Hamlet's "To be or not to be" scene shown came off a little too modern but still gave off a message as well as the others. It takes place in Block Buster, with Hamlet walking up and down the aisles thinking to himself. Then, all of sudden he starts to think out loud which made it even weirder because he was in a public place. But, I like that Hamlet was walking up and down the action section of the block buster and there is burning almost resembling hell being shown on the televisions behind him, which helps you understand the story behind why it took place a Block Buster. 

First Ghost Scene

The first scene with Mel Gibson and the Ghost was very melo, and calm. The fact that the ghost was so old made it more non believable than the other scenes that were shown. Even though the scene seemed calm there was still no passion behind it. If I were to re create the scene differently I would display more emotion from Hamlet because he was quiet and calm.
The second scene was really creative in the way the ghost was displayed. The ghost was there but not really there because his face was shown but it was hard to see because of the setting in the scene. Also the creativity in this scene was shown when there was a flashback of how Hamlets father died. This lets us grasp the storyline behind the play into a visual perspective.
The third scene was modernized which made it hard to understand why there would be a modern version of Hamlet. They spoke in Old English and lived in a modern time which made it seem like an oxymoron. The ghost was touching Hamlet to much and it seemed as if he wasnt a ghost and was alive.
